Location: Hamilton Square Rail Station
'Garden of Icons' is the third piece in the series of five artworks commissioned by Merseytravel and created by Grant Searl to animate the Liverpool Loop Line underground stations. The painting is true to Grants works, however this piece comes with an iconic twist and unlike the other two works, this one actually holds the answer to the clue!
'Garden of Icons' was inspired by some of Merseyside's most iconic people as well as one or two recognisable art installations which, over the years, have helped to put Merseyside on the map.
Merseytravel 'Animate the Underground' commission will be made up of five pieces of visual art, each representing and reflecting very different themes. Each one will be accompanied by its very own riddle, which leads to a hidden word; when all five riddles have been solved they will form the basis of an answer to a very exciting 'Art on the Network' competition. All will be revealed in time, so watch this space!
Riddle:
One of these icons captured another
While sitting quietly for a mother
There lies a clue within the trees
The last of the five, he'd have nurtured these
This icon would have shunned the trend
As this puzzle came to an untimely end.
