A new art installation has been unveiled at Huyton Station by Knowsley Councillor and chair of Merseytravel Environmental Committee, Ken McGlashan.
The work, by local artist Mike Badger, was inspired by the winning entry in a competition run by Merseytravel Corporate Partnerships department and KCC Live to find a piece of artwork for the station.
The competition, to find a design with the theme 'Transport and fashion through the ages', was promote by KCC Live, a community radio station for young people in Knowsley, based at Knowsley community college, and received over 50 entries.
The winning design by Knowsley student Rebecca McGrory formed the basis for the work which can now be seen at Huyton Station.
On unveiling the work Councillor McGlashan said, "Merseytravel are very keenn on public art to brighten up the stations and we know from feeback we get that these pieces really do improve our customers journeys. What makes this piece even more exciting is that it was designed and produced by local people."
